App embed not active

The check reads your published theme, so an unsaved editor session or a preview does not register. Save the theme, then use Refresh status.

Applies to
  • Online Store 2.0 themes
Doesn't apply to
  • Checkout blocking, which does not need the embed

1. The theme was not saved

The most common cause. Toggling the embed in the theme editor does nothing until you Save, and the app reads your published theme.

Save, return to the app, and click Refresh status.

2. You enabled it on a different theme

Duplicates and drafts are easy to end up in, especially mid-redesign. Confirm you enabled it on the theme that is actually published.

3. The status is cached in your session

Use Refresh status rather than reloading the page — that is what re-runs the check.

Verify the fix

  1. Dashboard reads App embed is active.
  2. A product with the metafield locks its quantity picker.
  3. A blocked cart shows the message on the cart page, if you have that on.

Frequently asked

Does anything break while the embed is off?

Checkout blocking carries on working. Storefront quantity locking and cart-page messages do not.

I enabled it on a different theme.

The check reads the published theme. Enabling it on a duplicate or a draft theme will not register.
